Bulgarian Union of Tourism Investors showcases Bulgaria in Madrid


The Bulgarian Union of Tourism Investors is currently advertising Bulgaria during the Day of Europe, which opened Friday, May 9 in the Spanish capital Madrid part of the Week of Europe celebrations. The week was opened with the Bulgarian exhibitions dedicated to the Cyrillic alphabet.

The presentation of Bulgaria as a tourist destination is part of a massive advertising campaign in Spain conducted by the Bulgarian Union of Tourism Investors, its press service announced on Friday.

As announced by the spokesperson of the Bulgarian Embassy in Spain, the advertising of Bulgaria in Spain also includes the presentation of the country as a golf destination, and efforts to attract Spanish golf companies as investors.

The Bulgarian Union of Tourism Investors has also offered a joint initiative to one of the largest Spanish tourism companies HALCON Viajes. The Spanish company is planning to start charter flights to Bulgaria in the upcoming summer.

According to unofficial data, Spain is the largest Bulgarian Diaspora in Europe with about 200 000 Bulgarians currently living there, however, the country is more famous for its folk music, yogurt, and the Barcelona football player Hristo Stoichkov and not as a tourist destination.
