In a report, published by the US non-governmental organization "Ethical Traveler", Bulgaria has been ranked among the top ten most ethical new travel destinations.
The report and the ranking have the goal to encourage travelers to choose countries from this group as an alternative to standard tourist destinations in developed countries.
"We are sending a signal that travelers are aware of where their money is going, and willing to support nations that care about the environment, human rights, and the global community," the report states.
The criteria used to generate the list are: environmental protection, social welfare and human rights in the developing countries.
The other countries, listed by the organization in alphabetical order are: Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, Croatia, Estonia, Namibia, Nicaragua, South Africa.
