Sofia to Have New Multifunction City Complex


A new multifunction complex will be built in Sofia, valued at over 2 billion euro.

The complex will be located in the area of the “Tsarigradsko Shose” boulevard, known as the 4th kilometer. The plot of 600 decares is currently occupied by army barracks and offices of the Bulgarian newspaper “24 Hours.”

The complex will include business buildings, hotels, conference halls, apartments for diplomats, sports and entertainment facilities, and buildings for the relocation of certain state administration institutions,

The Bulgarian government has already initiated a tender for the selection of an architectural project for the construction of the new city complex, which is going to begin in two years.

The tender is open to international participants with only five to six bidders to be allowed to the final.

The winner will be invited to prepare the final plan of the entire complex. The other projects placed 2nd to 6th will each be awarded BGN 100 000.

The government will hold separate tenders to select the construction companies to execute the project’s design.
