Housing Price Increase Registers Highest Rates in Three Bulgarian Cities


According to statistical data for the second trimester of the year 2008, three Bulgarian ciites show the highest rate of price increase for residential buildings. Kustendil, Plovdiv and Smolyan are lead the list of Bulgaria's regional cities by the price increase of apartments,.

Prices in Kustendil have gone up by 14,9% while those in Plovdiv and Smolyan are up respectively by 13,2% and 12,7%.

According to real estate brokers, the sales of apartments in the well known winter resort Pamporovo, located close to Smolyan, have not influenced the apartments' price hike in the mountain city with apartment prices in the resort and those in the city currently almost equal.

The demand remains the highest for apartments in new buildings with prices ranging between EUR 550 and 650 per square meter. The price for those wishing t risk an “off plan” purchase is lower - EUR 480 per square meter.
