The Turgovishte Mayor Krasimir Mirev, who is the former Chair of the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria announced recently that the first shopping mall in northeast Bulgaria will be build in the city of Turgovishte.
The news was confirmed by representatives of the company Greenfield Bulgaria, which is planning to invest about 40 million euro in the new mall.
The new shopping center will have a total built-up area of 40 000 square meters and will be located on the Sofia-Varna highway. The complex will be completed by the end of 2010 while the construction permit is expected by February 2009.
The Turgovishte Mayor said the investment was very important for the city, which has one of the highest unemployment rates and lowest standards of living in Bulgaria.
