4.3 Million Foreign Tourists Visited Bulgaria in First Eight Months of 2008

According to preliminary data announced recently by the head of the country's State Tourism Agency Aneliya Krushkova, over 4.3 million foreign tourists visited Bulgaria in the January-August period of 2008.

Krushkova announced the data during the presentation of the first regional organization for the management of a tourist region dedicated to the Sofia tourist region.

The above number of 4.3 million visitors represents a 15% increase compared to the same period of 2007.

The foreign visitors have spent over 1.5 billion euro in Bulgaria for the same eight months. The amount i is a 12.1% increase compared to the 2007 amounts.

in the January-August period of 2008, nearly 4 million Bulgarians traveled abroad and spent 911.1 million leva - a 25% increased compared to the first eight months of 2007.
