According to the Bulgarian Construction Chamber (BCC), the fifty largest construction companies in Bulgaria have achieved a total turnover of 2.7 billion leva in 2007.
Glavbolgarstroy JSC with a total turnover of 228.9 million leva has kept its leading position as the largest Bulgarian construction company in Bulgaria, followed by Patishta ("Roads") Holding, owned by the richest Bulgarian Vasil Bozhkov, with a turnover of 151,7 million leva.
Glavbolgarstroy JSC is the leading company in the high construction field, whereas Patishta Holding is the number one in the infrastructure category.
The engineering company Enemona with a total turnover of 56 millions ranks first in the energy projects category, while Geotechmin is the leader in the public works field with a turnover of 109,3 million leva.
A total of 2 400 construction companies, which are members of the BCC, applied for a spot among the top 50. The Chamber has prepared the annual rankings of the top 50 Bulgarian construction firms and the most successful of them received awards at a special ceremony held on October 24.
According to the BCC, in 2007 Bulgaria's construction sector registered its usual growth of 15-16%.
