Apartment Prices in Bulgaria Increase by 3%


According to data from the National Statistical Institute, the average apartment prices in Bulgaria have gone up by 3% in the third quarter of 2008 compared to the second quarter of the year.

The data does not include residential units in newly constructed buildings.

The greatest price increase was registered in Plovdiv - 11% while the average price increase in the capital Sofia is 6,8%.

The prices also grew significantly in the Rhodoppe Mountains city of Smolyan (10.4%), in Dobrich (9%), in Silistra (6.6%), and in the Black Sea city of Bourgas (3,4%).

The average apartments prices in Bulgaria's sea capital Varna actually declined by -0.4%. Other decreases were registered in Rouse (-5.9%), in Blagoevgrad (-5.2%), and in Shumen (-7.7%).

The average price of apartment property in Bulgaria has reached 1 418,24 leva per square meter or slightly over 700 euros

The highest average prices per square meter are in Sofia - 2 470 leva per square meter, Varna - 2 129,67 leva, Bourgas - 1 755 leva , Plovdiv – 1655 leva, Ruse - 1 646 leva, Veliko Turnovo – 1331 leva.

The cheapest apartments are in Kyustendil - 751 leva per square meter, Silistra 763 leva, and Kurdzhali 855 leva.
